The marble steps and landings to this very decorative staircase in a commercial office complex in Manchester were found to be very slippery when wet. The owners however did not want to spoil the natural polished look of the Marble but did want to improve the slip resistance.

The Marble surface was first degreased and cleaned manually using small scrubbing brushes and a degreasing agent. A clear decorative anti-slip tape with strong adhesive backing was then installed firstly to the front edge of each step. The tape was then installed to each landing area in a diagonal pattern to give a more decorative effect. To ensure that the non- slip strips were bonded sufficiently to the surface each individual strip was put in place and then heavily rolled to ensure total contact with the surface
